Stork Stack August 2013 ~ “Splish Splash! Bed and Bath!” (3 Month old) Review

I’m a little behind on this review. My August Stork Stack actually came on Wednesday. I subscribe to both Bluum and Stork Stack and so far I’m in love with both.

Stork Stack is a monthly subscription box service for your 3rd trimester to your babies 3rd birthday. Every month they have a theme and the contents of your box are based on your babies age. You’ll receive 5 items in each box and one of them will be for you!

Stork Stack boxes are one of my favorite. I think I just like the colors and their logo.

The box, love it!

The very first Stork Stack I got didn’t have an information card so I was very pleased to see one in this box. I’ll be including the information provided on the card with each item on my reviews below along with my own thoughts.

Here’s what the Stork dropped:

  • Boon – Odd Duck ($8.49) ~ “Not your average rubber ducky. Kids are all different shapes and sizes, shouldn’t rubber ducks come that way too? Odd Ducks are PVC-free, unlike those other mucky ducks. Ands ours do not hold water, so they won’t grow that black mold that kids always try to suck out.” I like that they don’t hold water but I don’t ever remember trying to suck the water out??? It’s a really cute duck and I like that it’s PVC-free. However, I doubt I’d pay that much for a rubber ducky.

  • Rich Frog Wacky Wash Mitt ($5.95) ~ “What could be more fun in the tub that a goofy character? One of Rich Frogs all time favorite bath toys, the Wacky Wash Mitt is a fun way to get clean. Bright colors and a smiling face make bath time enjoyable for Mom/Dad and little one. Hanging loop for quick drying on a faucet or bathroom hook.” Owls are one of my favorite little creatures and I already have a pink one from Target so naturally this was a hit with me. The material is very soft and appears to be of good quality.

  • Book: “Hello Baby Bathtime” ($5.99) ~ “Babies just love splashing around in their bath, and this Hello Baby book will add to that special bathtime fun. With high-contrast pictures to look at, simple first words to hear, and soft, tactile pages for little hands to squeeze and explore, this is a ideal book for parents to share with their bathtime baby.” I love that this is waterproof cause of course at this age everything goes in the mouth lol. The pictures are also nice and big with bright colors for babies developing eyes.

  • Bionee Body Caress ($15) ~ “Soothing and regenerating natural ingredients offer a gentle caress and ultimate care for the baby’s skin. The vegetal complex rich in Omega elements, vitamins and minerals that act to protect, nourish and sooth baby’s skin. Perfect for active babies: spreads easily and absorbs quickly!” I can be a little picky when it comes to how things smell. The lotion has a real light and fresh smell to it. I have sensitive skin and my babies skin is even more sensitive. Being that it has a fragrance to it, even though it’s light, I’m not going to risk putting it on her skin. I’ll wait till she gets a little older.

  • Chivas Bath Salt – a bath treat for mom! ($4) ~ “Our Bath Salts are made with Dead Sea Salts to detoxify, Goat Milk Powder to nourish, blend of bath oils to moisturize, and pure essential oils and herbs to soothe the senses.” Believe it or not this sample is probably my favorite thing in the box. It smells amazing! This one small package made the whole box smell yummy! Being that my babies skin is so sensitive I’ll probably just use it in a bath by myself. On the back of the information card attached to this sample is a coupon code for $5 off a purchase on their site. Sold!

  • Vapur Foldable Water Bottle valued at $10 ~ I already have two of these that I received with Enfamil samples. the quality of this is much better and feels sturdier. It also comes with a clip to fasten it to your purse, diaper bag, or stroller.

  • Earth Friendly Baby Ecos Laundry Detergent valued at $0.62 (4 oz) ~ I’ve received a sample of this previously and it works great in the wash. I was happy to see another bottle.

  • BabyComfyNose Nasal Aspirator valued at $15 ~ I’ll be honest I’ve seen these before! I was like what???? I played with this a little and looked up some reviews and it looks like it really does what it says! So far baby hasn’t needed it though.

  • Funktion Paci Purse valued at $19 ~ I already have a pacifier holder that matches my diaper bag but of course I could always use another. This one I could get away with attaching to my purse when baby gets a little older and doesn’t need a full diaper bag for every outing. I was a little unsure of  the price of this which was provided by bluum. After doing some research I was only able to find it on Funktion’s site with a list price of $19 but the item is currently unavailable.

  • Priddy Books Hello Baby Mirror Cloth Book valued at $10 ~ This is a cute little book for 0-6 months. My daughter loves looking at herself in the mirror!

  • RaZbaby Pacifier, Clown Fish valued at $5 ~ This pacifier also came with a 20% off coupon to use on their website. Any-who, I thought this was the greatest update to the common pacifier (or as we call it “binky”). I tried it out and even though it does close when it drops sometimes it lands on the mouth piece and then closes, kinda pointless in that situation. But, hey it looks cool and who doesn’t love Nemo!

I came up with a total value of $62.11 for this months bluum box. I couldn’t be happier with my first box from them especially since it was only $24.95. If you’d like to sign up for bluum use this link.

Relaxing Saturday Home Alone, I Think Not!

I was so happy to have the house to myself after a long week of having all the kids home.  I mean, I love my kids but sometimes you need a break. I’ll tell you more about all our kids later, spoiler alert: we have 6!

My husband, we’ll just call him “S”, has volunteered for the Special Olympics for many years and this weekend was their softball tournament. He and our five older kids left early to help out at the tournament. I went downstairs with the baby, “A~2”, after they left to start my coffee and was in the middle of organizing my little spot on the couch (phone, MacBook, channel changer, you know the necessities) when I noticed that our older son, “T”, who’s turn it was to clean the kitchen after dinner last night did not finish the job.

Now wait, this blog is not intended to be a place for me to rag on my kids but I just had to share this. So okay, he’s twelve I understand that there’s going to be dishes he’s going to miss, I totally get that, really I do. However, he left a pot half full of left over mashed potatoes on the stove, which would have made a great lunch for me, but decided to go through the trouble to find a container for the “left over” green beans and put them in the fridge. And now for the punch line…..there were no left over green beans! Funny, maybe. Troubling, possibly. How…why…did he not notice that there was none left?? Is the curse of the teenage years now upon us? If so, God please help us.

Image

Where’s the green beans???

So by the time I finished cleaning the kitchen to my liking, an hour later, the baby was screaming! While we’re on the topic of little A, or A~2, she’s been a tough baby! I’ve only raised one of our other children from birth, Z (10 years old), the other four came into my life almost two years ago along with their daddy <3. This new little one has been the total opposite of her big sister Z. She cries a lot and demands to be held constantly. I know, I’ve spoiled her. But really, can a newborn baby be spoiled? In my opinion, no. I’m sure some people might disagree and that’s okay too. She might just be the last baby I’ll have since we already have 6, of course I’m not getting any younger (currently 32), and I would really like to get going with my career (graduated nursing school in 2011 with a ADN, currently licensed RN pursuing a BSN through an online program). With that being said, I think I may just spoil the heck out of her.

So this little cutie actually turned two months old today! One of the things on my very limited agenda was to get a picture of her little smile. As some of you readers may now, that can be almost impossible until they start smiling more frequently. She’s still a new smiler; she just started smiling two days ago. I wasn’t able to capture her smile, but she sure is a cutie!

My quiet time ended shortly after this photo was taken. My husband and our five other children came home 4 hours early due to the heat. As soon as they came through the door the fridge was opened followed by “we’re hungry, what’s for lunch?”. My first thought, “do I really have to cook in my clean kitchen?” Mommy problems….
